Install Pre-rooted Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean XXUAMC6 firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 device

Samsung Galaxy has millions of users across the world and any update available for the device makes it a free gift to the users. Once you read this article, you will be able to update your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 device with pre-rooted Android 4.2. Jelly Bean XXUAMC6 Firmware.

This pre-rooted firmware is an experimental firmware, and we don’t have any guarantee that firmware will work. This firmware was presented on the XDA forum by a member and developer named AS I9000 and it was among the first firmware available for flashing on the Samsung Galaxy S4 which contain a new system.img and in addition to it comes the busybox tool included in one single file, a .tar.md5 based to manage the system dump files of the latest Android 4.2.2 file that you can use to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 device.

This firmware is the stock Android 4.2.2 XXUAMC6 version, with busybox included and a pre rooted Jelly Bean firmware update.

Pre-requisites and Guidelines:

  • This tutorial and all instructions listed here are compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy S4 device model No I9500 with CPU model Exynos 5 OCTA. So don’t use this guide for I9505 model or any other smartphone, you can damage your device.
  • Install the Samsung USB drivers that are compatible with your model on your Windows PC.
  • Back-up all the data stored in your internal memory device.
  • From the S4 menu, enable the USB Debugging option from the Developer Option menu. This option will make possible connection between the PC and your S4. If you can’t find this option, go in your S4 menu search and open the Settings tab and from there choose the About Phone menu section and there select the ‘Build Number’ and tap 7 times on it. You’ll be notified with messages that tell you that you’re the developer now.
  • Disable or uninstall the security programs like antivirus or firewall from the devices, PC and S4 device. These programs can interfere with the installation process and can interrupt it. Other reason to disable is that you will use the ODIN app in the updating process and is possible that your security programs to consider the ODIN app is a malware.
  • Verify the level of the power left in your device’ battery. The battery must be more than 50% charged to complete the flashing process.

How to Install the Pre-Rooted Android 4.2.2 XXUAMC6 Jelly Bean firmware for Galaxy S4 I9500 –

  1. First of all, you have to download the firmware zip file from here, save it in your computer and when the download completes you need to extract its content. There you’ll obtain a file that will have the .tar extension or tar.md5 file extension. Verify this and move to the next step.
  2. Then, you need to download and install the Odin 1.85 from here, and after the download is over extract its content in your PC. If you have problems with the 1.85 ODIN versions, you can try with other version (ODIN 3.04 or ODIN 3.07).
  3. Now, power off your Samsung Galaxy S4 device.
  4. Once the power off process is over, boot your S4 device into Download Mode. To do this, you need to press Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously- until the power on is displayed, after that you need to press once again the Power button and the Android Download Mode will be displayed.
  5. Now, Open and launch the ODIN. exe app on your Windows Computer.
  6. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S4 device to your computer using the original USB cord.
  7. After you connect the S4 device to the PC, the ODIN software will say ‘added!!’
  8. Now, click the ‘PDA’ button in ODIN app, after that browse the I9500XXUAMC6_I9500OXAAMC6_ROOT_ODEX.tar.md5 file and load it into ODIN app. Important: Don’t change any default settings into the ODIN interface, just verify and be sure the ‘Re-partition’ option is disabled.
  9. Now, press the START button on the ODIN interface, when you want to install the new firmware. After you have pressed on the Start button, Odin button, will take several minutes to install and finish the flashing process.
  10. When the installation is done, the ODIN app will notify you with a ‘Pass’ message.
  11. Disconnect your S4 device by removing the USB cable to the computer.
  12. Your S4 device will take a reboot.

You should verify if you have the root access, to do that check the Superuser icon in the APP drawer menu, and if it is there that means you have the root access.
