A new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is ready to be pushed out to LG G2 devices from AT&T carrier. The new firmware version D80020u brings the Knock Code that expands on the Knock On tap-to-wake security feature. Knock Code will allow you to choose from more than 80,000 possible combinations with which you can unlock your phone, tapping a minimum 2 until maximum 8 point customized pattern anywhere on the display.
The new update will also bring Calendar/ Exchange Active Sync (EAS) enhancements.
All the other features of KitKat like cloud printing, immersive mode, transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, color emoji support or new Location Menu were already received by users of AT&T LG G2 in the previous Android 4.4.2 update.
The new update has a size of 39, 40 or 692 MB depending on your software current version.
Usually there should be no impacts to settings or data, but is recommended that you backup your contacts and necessary files to AT&T apps(AT&T Mobile Transfer, AT&T Locker or AT&T Address Book) or PC.
Just like all software updates, the AT&T LG G2 Android 4.4.2(Knock Code) update is pushed out in stages, so that not all AT&T LG G2 users will be able to download and install it at once.
The firmware will be sent to the devices over the air, and when your LG G2 becomes suitable to receive a new update, you will receive an automatic system update message in the notification area, just tap on it, and follow the on-screen instructions.
You can also see if an update is ready for your device under All Settings -> General -> About phone -> Software updates -> Update now.
To verify your software current version go to All settings->General->About phone->Software information.
We recommend you to use a stable Wi-Fi connection for the update and to have at least 50% battery charged.
If are AT&T LG G2 owners among you that have received the new Android 4.4.2 over-the-air update, we will be glad if you share your opinion about the new update in the comments section below.
