Google released this week the Android L Developers Previews Factory Image for its Nexus 5 device. Yesterday, as you probably know that at Google I/O 2014, the new Android L (5.0 Lollipop?) was introduced. The final name for the new Android OS isn’t known yet, but is most likely to be named Android 5.0.
Google has released for all Nexus 5 device’s software developers the new Android L Factory Image in order to allow developers to access 5000 new API which are included in this new release. Another great reason is to allow developers and testers to test and then to report all bugs found there.
The new release, Android L is definitely the last major update that Google’s mobile devices OS has received. The new Android L OS comes with a new even flatter design, enhanced notification bar, ART runtime, better look-screen notification, new Material design philosophy, enhanced multitasking and more.
The new Android L Developers Preview Factory Images is now available for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, but Google also mentioned that its developers will release this new Android L device for Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 devices.
If you want to install the new Android L factory image on the Nexus 5 device you’ll need to have an unlocked bootloader device, the Android SDK and the suitable Nexus 5 USB drivers installed on your PC, then download the update file for the device from here, save it in your PC, extract the .tgz file, then the .tar file, and then run the .bat script.
Note that the entire procedure will wipe all the data from your device. If you want to use a suitable step by step guide about how to install the new Android L Developers Preview on the Nexus 5 device then we will post a tutorial in a couple of hours.
