Firmware Update 17.1.2.A.0.323 Rolling Out To Vodafone Sony Xperia Z2 In UK, Germany and Spain

Xperia Z2

Users of Sony Xperia Z2 from Vodafone started to receive a new Android 4.4.2 update on their handsets in the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain. At the moment, we do not know if this update will be available for Xperia Z2 devices from other carriers or if will see a global release.

The new iteration was certified by PTCRB early this month and will pass the Xperia Z2 handsets from build version 17.1.2.A.0.314 to version 17.1.2.A.0.323.

Because the usual Android 4.4.2 KitKat goodies such as new Location menu, white status and navigation bars, new color Emoji, cloud printing, full screen album art and movie art from the lock screen, immersive mode and more were received in a previous update, the new update is not bringing major changes, but will fix existing bugs and brings several improvements such as: call quality voice, performance and touch functionality, faster charging time, stability and overall performance, and also comes with a new video icon for receiving voice calls.

If you are a Xperia Z2 owner, you should keep an eye on your device’s notification bar, because once it is ready to receive a new update you should receive an OTA update message.

Additionally, you can check for available updates under Settings -> About Device -> Check for updates.

Another option is to upgrade your device using Sony’s PC companion with a help of a Windows-based PC and a USB cable.

Although, the new firmware 17.1.2.A.0.323 is just around 110MB in size it is recommended that you make a backup of your data before the update, completely charge the device’s battery and also use a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to avoid unwanted loss of data, interruptions or additional charges during the installation process.
