The users of Sony Xperia SP devices should soon start to receive a new OTA update for their handsets as a new firmware build number 12.1.A.1.207 has been certified by PTCRB.
The Xperia SP devices will be updated from build version 12.1.A.1.205 released in June this year to version 12.1.A.1.207 and will receive mostly bug fixes.
The new build received certification for all Xperia SP variants: C5302, C5303 and C5306.
The new firmware is still based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and at the moment no word from Sony about Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Xperia SP handsets.
Once the new firmware update begins to roll to Xperia SP devices you will receive a system notification on your smartphone, all you need to do is tap on the message and follow the given instruction appeared on the screen.
You must still be patient because the new firmware has just received certification from PTCRB, and once it begins to be pushed to Xperia SP devices, as usual the software update is released in stages and at different times depending on carrier or country.
You can check for available updates wirelessly under Settings -> About phone -> Software updates -> System updates, using a stable Wi-Fi connection.
You will find your Xperia SP’s current software version by going to Settings -> About phone -> Build number / version.
