Google is pushing out an update for Gmail across all platforms that optimizes Hangouts integration on the service and adds interesting new features.
After you update the Hangouts you will see the contacts that are online at the top of the list, but if you want to send a message to a contact that it is not online, of course, you can, only that now it is easier to see who is online.
Moreover, if you have in your Hangouts list favorite contacts or people with you are talking more often, and you want to see them at the top of the list, the new version will allow you to pin people with just a right click and by selecting the option.
Google says on the Gmail Google+ page that users have been asking for these features for quite some time and that is seeding the new Hangouts update over the coming days, and Gmail users can expect to see a button named ‘try the new Hangouts’ appear under the chat settings that will upgrade the service to the latest version.
