1. Download from this link the TWRP recovery file on your computer and place the .img file into the Android SDK folder. Rename the package into “recovery.img”.
2. Power on the Huawei P9 Plus device.
3. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable.
4. Open a command prompt window from the Android SDK folder by holding the Shift keyboard key and right clicking on any blank space in this folder.
5. Enter “ADB reboot bootloader”, in this command window.
6. Wait until fast boot mode is displayed on your Huawei P9 Plus.
7. Go back to command, type “fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”. The flashing of custom recovery image will start.
8. When the flashing process is done, reboot recovery mode on your device.
9. If something goes wrong, from recovery make a wipe by selecting the ‘wipe cache partition’, ‘wipe Dalvik cache’ and wipe ‘data factory reset’ options.
