Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XWLSU Official Firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100

  • Enable the USB debugging option from your Android OS, navigate on the Developer Options menu.
  • Install the suitable USB drivers for the S2 device on your computer.
  • Verify the level of power in the device’s battery and make sure you have more than 80%  power level in your device so that it does not face a sudden power off in the middle of the process.
  • Uninstall/ disable the security programs running on your PC and the device, such as programs Kies, Antivirus, and firewall.

How to update the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 to official Android 4.1.2 XWLSU Jelly Bean

  1. First, download the Android 4.1.2 XWLSU Jelly Bean I9100XWLSU zip file from below:

  2. Second, when the download is done you need to extract the downloaded archive file on your PC, you should have a .tar.md5extension file, don’t apply another extract for it.
  3. Third, download the ODIN 3.04 app, this application will be used for installing the firmware file.  Now, extract the ODIN archive in your PC.
  4. Now, power off your Android Samsung Galaxy S2 device, remove its battery after the S2 device has been totally shut down and wait 10 seconds with the battery removed, now re-insert the battery in its place.
  5. Open the Odin exe file on your PC.
  6. Now, boot your S2 device into Download Mode. For doing that you need to press and keep holding, in the same time the next combination of buttons: Volume Down, Home and Power buttons. When a warning message will be showed on the screen, release the buttons and after that press on the Volume Up button for confirming the Download Mode menu.
  7. Connect your S2 device to the PC using the USB data cord for doing that.
  8. Now, just look on the ODIN interface and make sure the ODIN will say ‘added!!’ message to move to the next step. IF ODIN app doesn’t display the ‘added!!’ message you have to reinstall the USB drivers again and change the USB port from the PC.
  9. Now, using the ODIN app click ‘PDA’ button, browse the extracted I9100XWLSU tar.md5 file and load it in the ODIN app.
  10. Make sure that you don’t make any changes in the ODIN default settings. Make sure that the re-partition’ option is not cheeked (enabled).
  11. Now, click START button from ODIN when you want to begin the installation process.
  12. Wait to ODIN complete the flashing process, it can take a couple of minutes, don’t touch anything
  13. When the firmware flashing is complete, your device will get an automatically reboot.
  14. When the Samsung Logo (boot animation) appears you can disconnect the device from the PC.
  15. Wait until your S2 device will boot into normal mode and begin to test and use the new Android 4.1.2 XWLSU Jelly Bean firmware.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the ODIN app says ‘Fail ‘ or your S2 device is entering into a boot loop, or freeze then you have to do:
  1. First, Power off the S2 device.
  2. Second, disconnect the S2 device from the PC by removing its USB cord.
  3. Thirty close the ODIN app.
  4. Next, repeat the present tutorial from the beginning.
  • If the ODIN app says “Pass” but your S2 device isn’t able to past the boot sequence when the Samsung Logo boot animation appears, then you have to do a factory reset for your Samsung S2 device. This action will delete all the data which are stored in device’s system memory and partition. To do that follows the next steps:
  1. First, power off the Samsung Galaxy S2 device, and after the power off is completely down, remove its battery.
  2. Second, reinsert the device’s battery after you’ve waited 10 seconds in its location.
  3. Third, boot the S2 device into Recovery Mode Menu; to do this thing you need to press and keep holding the next buttons simultaneous: Volume Up, Home and Power button.
  4. From the Recovery Mode menu, select the ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option and confirm this action.
  5. Now, return to the main Recovery Mode menu, and from there select the ‘reboot system now’ option.
  6. Your Samsung Galaxy S2 device will boot into normal mode with the new firmware installed on it.

Note: when you’ll apply a factory reset from the Recovery mode, you’ll lose the data stored in the device’s internal memory and for this reason you need a full backup for your data.
