The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini model number GT-I9190 has received a new update named Android 4.2.2 UBUBMK2 Jelly Bean.

The new update has been provided by OTA, but users can also use the Samsung KIES software to get this new update.

This step by step guide is specially provided for teach all the users who want manually install this new firmware on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini device for all the users who might have missed the firmware by OTA or via KIES software.

The new firmware has PDA: I9190UBUBMK2, CSC: I9190UUBBMK1, MODEM: I9190UBUBMK2 and is built on Nov 12, 2013 and version name Android 4.2.2 for Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Argentina and Trinidad and Tobago regions.

How to install the Android 4.2.2 UBUMK2 Jelly Bean update on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9190 device:

  1. Download the Android 4.2.2 UBUBMK2 Jelly Bean update from here or from here, save it in your PC and extract the Firmware zip file by using the applications like 7zip or Winzip to get a .tar.md5 file and some other additional files.
  2. Download ODIN 3.07 from here, save it in your PC; extract the ODIN zip file to obtain the ODIN 3 v3.07.exe and some other additional files.
  3. Power off the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini device completely.
  4. Boot it into Download Mode, to do this all you have to do is press and keep holding the next combination of buttons- Volume Down, Home and Power buttons in the same time until a construction Android robot icon will be displayed together with a warning message and then press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
  5. Run ODIN application with Administrator rights on the PC.
  6. Now, take the USB cord and connect the device to the PC while the smartphone is in Download Mode.
  7. The ODIN application needs to detect the device.
  8. When the device is successfully detected, the ID:COM box will turn to lights blur and will attribute an COM port number. Additionally, the successfully connection will be showed by a ”Added” message.
  9. Note: If the “Added” message doesn’t appear, then the users should to reinstall the USB drivers once again but in the same time they should try to change the USB port on the PC.
  10. Now, in ODIN you need to load the extracted file (I9190UBUBMK2 firmware):
  11. Click the PDA button into ODIN and select the .tar.md5 file.
  12. Click on the Phone button and select the file with MODEM word in its name. ( If there isn’t a file like this then ignore this step).
  13. Click the CSC button and browse and select the file with the CSC in its name, if there us no such file present, you need to ignore the file.
  14. Click the PIT button from ODIN and from there select the .pit file. Again if there isn’t presented a file like this ignore this step.
  15. Important:  From ODIN, ensure that the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are enabled. Additionally, if there you load a.pit file in the previous step then the Re-Partition checkbox must to be chosen.
  16. Check once again all the steps and when you’ve done correctly, hit the Start button from ODIN to start the flashing process.
  17. When the flashing process is done, the device will take an automatically restart, and a “PASS” message on a green background will be displayed in the Odin’ interface.
  18. Now, you can safe disconnect the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini device from the PC.
  19. Now, you can verify the new firmware version by following the next path in the S4 device menu: Settings>>About Phone.

Troubleshooting:

If the device is stuck at the first booting animation screen you need to do a wipe data:

  • Boot the device into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume UP, Home and Power button in the same time and from there select ‘Wipe data/Factory Reset’ and also select then ‘Wipe Cache Partition’.
  • When the Wipe task is done return into the main menu of the Recovery Mode and select Reboot System Now option.
  • Note: the wipe task will delete all your data stored into internal memory data. The wipe operation will not erase the external SD card data.
