Google has released a new official Android 4.4.3 KitKat update named KTU84L OTA firmware for its Nexus 4 device. We will show you how to install this update by using a manual method in case you didn’t receive it in your region.
This is for advanced Android users, and it can be used only if you’re running official Android 4.4.2 KitKat KOT49H firmware. If you have a Nexus 4 device with a custom ROM , do not use this guide.

Before beginning the step by step instructional guide, you need to follow some prerequisites: Use this guide only for a Google Nexus 4 device. Your device should have the Android 4.4.2 KitKat (KOT49H) firmware installed on it, do not try to install the new KTU84L firmware on an older firmware.
- Check the device’s firmware version by following the next path: Settings> About Device > Build Number.
- Continue the flashing process only if the Build Number of your device is KOT49H.

- We will show you two different step by step guides, one for Nexus 4 device with official Recovery, and the second one shows how to install the new firmware for a Nexus 4 with a custom recoveries such as TWRP and CWM.
- If the Nexus 4 device has a custom ROM , this guide will not work and you’ll have to install an official Android 4.4.2 KOT49 H firmware on the device.
- Ensure that the Android SDK is installed and correctly configured on your PC.
- Download it from here and then install it on the C: partition of your computer.
- After you download the Android SDK file, you need to open the SDK manager.
- Once you configure the SDK software, you should remember where the ‘platform-tools’ folder is located as you will have to copy the new Android 4.4.3 update zip file.

- Now, enable the USB Debugging mode from Developer Options menu.

- First, download the update file from here and save it on your PC.
- Now, change its long name of the zip into “update.zip” after that copy it into “platform-tools” folder on the Android SDK directory.
- From the guidelines from above, you can find the links for the Android SDK file.
- Turn off the Nexus 4 device now.
- Now, boot the device into Recovery Mode.
- When the Recovery Mode menu is displayed, you need to select the “apply update from adb” option.
- Now, connect the Nexus 4 device with your computer by using the USB cable.
- Now, navigate to folder from where you’ve copied the Update.zip file.
- Now, press and keep holding the “Shift” button, and in the same time, right-click on the folder’s white space, from there “open command prompt window here”.
- Now on the Command Prompt window insert: adb sideload update.zip in order to start the Android 4.4.3 KitKat KTU84L installation.
- If you didn’t change the name of the update zip file, you need to enter the exact name of the file.
- Now, wait until the sideload progress bar shows 100% and do not press any buttons until the installation process is done.

How To Update the Nexus 4 device with Android 4.4.3 KTU84L from Custom Recovery image:
This step by step guide is specially created for devices having a custom Recovery images like CWM or TWRP:
- First, download the firmware update zip file from here.
- Secondly, connect the Nexus 4 device to PC and copy the Android 4.4.3 zip file to its internal memory.
- Once the file is copied, you can disconnect the Nexus 4 device from the PC.
- Now, boot the device into device Recovery Mode.
- From Recovery Mode select the “install zip from sdcard” option.
