Today the Android Open Kang Project team has been officially launched, the second Milestone 2 build AOKP custom ROM based on Android 4.2.2 firmware.

This latest custom ROM can be flashed for over forty devices which are supported of this release, on the supported list we can see included the HTC One, Galaxy Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia series and more.

The latest AOKP Milestone 2 ROM comes with tons of new features and applications as AOKP Ribbo (that allow you to add a quick Navbar and new application actions), Permission management, Dark AOKP, mGerrit, Persistence support – keep DPI/hosts settings between wipes, HDR mode in AOSP Camera, Quick Torch on Lockscreen, Few new Toggles – StayAwake, Custom, Sleep, Reboot, Superuser from Koush and more.

The HDR camera mode doesn’t work with all supported Android devices, and this is reason for this feature might not be able to use the same, maybe the AOKP team will include this feature in the later versions.

As I said the new AOKP Ribbo feature allow you to add ‘ribbons’ to your device’s lock-screen, to set up a quick settings panel and to integrate the shortcuts with the notification panel.

To enable the AOKP Ribbon you should navigate to ROM Control in your device’s settings and to use its settings to customize it, you can customize the appearance and the place where you want it to be displayed. The Ribbon feature can offer you the possibility to improve your Android experience.

The new AOKP Milestone 2 was built on the same AOSP Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware, but in additional brings new other functions and features borrowed from the CyanogenMode custom builds.
