New Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Now Live

Samsung Galaxy S4

A new Android 4.4.2 update is rolling out for Samsung Galaxy S4 handsets from Sprint carrier. All the specific KitKat improvements and changes were received in the previous Android 4.4.2 update by Sprint Galaxy S4 users, so this new firmware update is just a minor one.

Labeled with number L720VPUFNG2, the new firmware will add to Sprint Galaxy S4 users HD Voice and Google security patches. So if you own a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint after the update you should notice an HD Voice icon. With HD Voice, your calls will be clearer, but of course, it works only with other handsets that support the technology.
As usual, the new Android 4.4.2 update is pushed to users in phases via OTA, so it might take awhile for all Sprint Galaxy S4 users to be able to download and install it.

However, once your Galaxy S4 handset becomes ready to get the new Android 4.4.2 OTA update you should receive an automatic system update message in your device’s notifications bar.

In order to download and install the new firmware, tap on that message and follow the on-screen guidance.

As you probably know, you can also perform a manual check and see if the new update is available for download under Settings -> More -> Software updates -> Check for software updates, or connect your handset to your PC using the USB cable and see if the new Android 4.4.2 is available through Samsung KIES.

Remember that if you want that the download and install process to succeed you need to fully charge your device and also to use a stable Wi-Fi connection to avoid data charges.
