Starting today the Australian HTC One M7 smartphones will receive a firmware over-the-air update to HTC Sense version 6, at this moment was confirmed only by three carriers, namely Vodafone, Optus, and it seems that Telstra too, but is expected that all those who own the One M7 in Australia will take full benefit of a Sense 6 updates.
After the update users will receive besides the HTC Sense 6 UI, also Extreme Power Saving mode option and power efficiencies, app improvements such as Mail, Message, Calendar and Phone and also performance, stability improvements and bug fixes. We should mention that the improvements and new additions will vary slightly depending on the carrier, but everyone will enjoy an enhanced user experience of their M7 device.
The release is around 680MB, so make sure that you have enough free space before proceeding with the update.
Since the update will be performed using the OTA method there is no need for you to connect to your PC, all you need to do is to connect to Wi-Fi or 3G/4G mobile connection when you receive an automatic system message in the notification area and to follow the on-screen instructions.
Such updates are usually sent to users in phases, this mean that not all HTC One M7 owners will get it at once, so you need to be patient.
If the system failed to prompt you, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates ->Check Now and see if any new firmware update is available for your HTC One M7 device.
Let us know in the comments section if you’ve received an update on your M7 handset and which carrier you are with, it will be interesting to see if other carriers started to send the Sense 6 update to their HTC One M7 customers.
