Sony Announced End Of Software Support For Xperia E And Xperia E Dual

Xperia E

Sony Xperia E and Xperia E Dual are two affordable handsets, that deliver a mid-range experience to its users, but this devices will no longer receive software updates as Sony stated via its software support page that the two handsets have reached their end of life regarding the software support.

The both models were launched in early 2013 with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and were later updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and at this stage will remain until the end of their lives cycle.

Over the last few months have been spotted minor updates, mostly security related, the last update for Xperia E and Xperia E dual was released in July this year, with the Xperia E updated to firmware build 11.3.A.2.33 and the Xperia E dual to build number 11.3.A.3.1 and no new version of Android has been sighted or it may be in the future.

Such confirmation will not make happy the owners these devices, but as always we must appreciate the Japanese manufacturer for being fair about its update plans.

Fortunately, for those of you that still wants to have a newer Android operating system, can enter unofficial custom ROMs on its Xperia E or Xperia E Dual device, but with the implied risks in such interventions.
