Sony Confirms new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Xperia S/SL, and acro S in a “few weeks”

Sony Mobile has officially confirmed today on Twitter that a new update is expected to be available in the next weeks for the owners of Sony Xperia S, SL, and Acro S Android-based devices.

There is not related specific info about the specifications of the new update, but they said an official changelog will be available shortly. The new update, should start be pushed out via OTA for the specified devices in a matter of weeks.

According to the tweet message Sony Mobile just confirmed that the new update will be a new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware build, and it will be available for download and install to Xperia S (LT26i), Xperia SL (LT26ii) and Xperia acro S (LT26w) owners. Unfortunately, the Sony Xperia ion isn’t specified in that list.

The new firmware build (6.2.B.1.96) is expected to come with a number of bug fixes and more and is expected to come by the end of this month or early September.

To conclude, the new upcoming update is based still on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean firmware, and it should bring various fixes and improvements and might also come in additionally with some new features and new customization options.
