Sony Xperia Z users from T-Mobile US carrier had been stuck on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and the firmware build 10.3.1.E.0.191 until a few days ago, when T-Mobile US published that a firmware 10.4.C.0.808 was pushed out for the Sony Xperia Z (C6606), but no user received the update. However it seems the firmware update is finally rolling out, and the firmware build is 10.4.C.0.814 instead of 10.4.C.0.808 and the T-Mobile Xperia Z devices receive an upgrade from Android 4.2.2 to 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Even though T-Mobile official changelog for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware on Sony Xperia Z devices is not provided you should expect Project Butter for performance and UI optimisation and smoother graphical experience, new Smart Social Camera, that contains all camera modes in one single place under the camera app, Sony Native Apps such as messaging, Small Apps, Smart Connect, Sony Select, Xperia Themes, Sony Media Apps, Enterprise Solution, improved Battery Life and more.
The T-Mobile Xperia Z devices will receive an update through over-the-air method in coming days and as any other update this will be pushed in stages so it may take a while until all devices will get it. Your device will notify you when it is eligible to update. After receiving the OTA notification message, follow the on-screen guidance.
If your device has not received an over-the-air notification message, you can manually check for it by going to Applications->Settings->About phone->Software update.
We should remind you that before the update process, make sure your device is more than 50% or higher battery charged and has 315 MB available memory because the file size of the update is 312 MB.
Is recommended using a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to avoid data charges.
You can also update the software using Sony’s PC Companion to install it manually.
Install the Sony PC Companion software from here, and then connect your Xperia Z device to the computer with a USB Cable.
The program automatically will indicate if an update is available for download, if it does not happen automatically, open the PC Companion software and click Start under Support Zone, then click Phone Software Update.
The software update wizard guides you through the update process.
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is perhaps a small consolation for the T-Mobile Xperia Z users given the fact that Sony started to push out the Android 4.4.2 update to global Xperia Z users, but we suppose it is more than nothing.
