Update Asus Transformer Pad TF700T to CM 10.2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean ROM

Asus Transformer TF700T (Transformer Pad Infinity) comes in the market with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but recently Asus rolled out officially  a new OS firmware update, Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean for this device. Isn’t it a welcome news for all Asus mobile lovers.

We have brought to you a step-by-step guide help you install the latest Android 4.3 custom ROM Jelly Bean firmware, using the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM.

This latest custom ROM can be useful for those users who can’t wait for the official release of the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Firmware for Asus Transformer Pad TF700T device.

Pre-requisites and guidelines:

  • All instructions and files provided in this step by step guide are meant for educational, reference and instructional purpose only. We, Android Source Team will not be held responsible or liable for any data lose or damage to the device.
  • All instructions from this guide and CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM file provided in this tutorial work on Asus Transformer Pad Infinity model number TF700T only. Knowing that don’t apply these instructions and files used here on any other device, as it may damage your device.
  • Make sure that the device is the correct one by following the next path: Settings>About Phone.
  • Back-up all your important data and settings stored into device’ internal memory. To take a full Nandroid back-up of your current ROM, custom recovery tools such as CWM or TWRP can be used. This Nandroid back-up will create a full image of the existing running ROM.
  • Make sure that the device has enough power left in its battery. To complete this process, the handset must have more than 85 % power left in it.
  • Also, ensure, the tablet is a factory unlocked and rooted tablet and in addition need a recovery image app such as CWM recovery installed on it.
  • Now, from the next path: Settings>Developer Options (Android 4.0 or later), and Settings>Applications> Development (Android 2.3 or earlier) and from there Enable USB Debugging mode option.
  • For tablets with Android 4.2, to enable the USB Debugging Mode you should go to the Settings>About Tablet option, scroll down and select Build Number from the bottom of the screen. Now, tap Build number seven times and the Developer Options will be un-hided now. Now, from the Developer Options select the check box to enable the USB Debugging mode option.

Step by Step guide to Install Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T using the CyanogenMod 10.2 custom ROM

  1. First, download the CyanogenMod 10.2. ROM file from here and save it in your PC.
  2. Second, download the Google Apps pack from here and save it in the computer.
  3. Now, connect the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T device to PC using the original USB cord.
  4. Move (Copy and Paste) the downloaded CynogenMod 10.2 ROM file and the Google Apps zip file to the root folder on the tablet’s SD card.
  5. Next, power off the device.
  6. Boot it into Recovery Mode. (Press and keep holding the Volume UP and HOME buttons at  the same time, and then with these two buttons pressed tap on the Power button until a green Android robot icon appears on the display.
  7. Now, from the Recovery Mode menu wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache.
  8. From the Recovery Mode menu go to advanced and perform wipe Dalvik cache.
  9. Now, from the same Recovery Mode main menu go to “mounts and storage” and format system.
  10. From the CWM recovery mode menu, select the Install Zip from SD card then browse and select the copied ROM zip file from the device’s SD card.
  11. Wait for installation of the new custom ROM (This process may take about six minutes to be done).
  12. After the new CM 10 file was installed, repeat the above step for installing the Google Apps file, as well.
  13. After the tablet is updated with the latest CM 10.2 built on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean platform, return in the main menu of Recovery Mode and select Reboot System Now.

That’s all, now the new CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM is successfully flashed on the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T device.

Verify the firmware version on the tablet from the following path: Settings > About Tablet

If you don’t like very well the latest CM 10.2 custom ROM you can return to original ROM like this:

  • Boot the device into RECOVERY
  • Select Backup and Restore.
  • Next, restore your previous backup file ROM by choosing the previously back-up created file from the list.
