Update Galaxy Note N7000 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 carried branded variants devices in Europe just received the latest Jelly Bean update firmware Over-The-Air, the new firmware is named Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean N7000XXLTA version.

Prerequisites and guidelines:

This latest release is not an unbranded firmware, and it can only be flashed on Samsung Galaxy Note7000 in Europe from T-Mobile and Vodafone variants.

All instructions and files from this step by step instructional guide are meaning only for educational and instructional purposing, so we cannot be held liable or responsible for any data lost or device damage during or after the firmware installation. Apply this guide only in your own risk.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware (XXLTA) and all instructions provided in this post are compatible and work to the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 model only. Do not use the same for any other incompatible device, you can easily brick them.

Make sure about the model number of the device by navigating to the next path: Settings > About Phone.

Back up all your data stored into device’s internal memory, and here you can save the contacts, SMS, MMS, videos files, photos files, and internet settings, APNs to avoid data loss while performing any wipe operation during or after the new firmware is applied.

  • Make sure that the Samsung Galaxy N7000 device’s battery has more than 80% power left, to prevent an expected power off in the middle of the flashing process.
  • Download and install the suitable USB drivers for the smartphone on the PC, if you don’t have them you can download from here.
  • From the next path: Settings > Developer Options (for Android 4.0 or later) and Settings > Applications > Development (Android 2.3 or earlier) enable the USB Debugging Mode on the smartphone.
  • The smartphone need to be both carrier unlocked and boot-loader unlocked to enable rooting and flash custom ROMs in the future.
  • During the flashing process,  the ODIN application will be used.
  • The ODIN app is designed to work only for Windows based PCs and for Linux or MAC PC’s users should use CrossOver Utility to support the ODIN app.

How to flash the Official Android 4.1.2 XXLTA Jelly Bean firmware on Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000.

  1. First, download the firmware file from here and save it in your PC.
  2. Secondly, Download Odin v3.07 on your PC.
  3. Now, extract the downloaded zip file on the desktop PC to get a .tar.md5 file and probably a few other files (optional).
  4. Next Extract ODIN zip file to get ODIN3 V3.07.exe and some other supplementary files.
  5. Turn off the smartphone completely, and wait around 6 seconds for vibration to confirm the complete Note 7000 device shutdown.
  6. Boot the Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 device in Download Mode. To enter into Download Mode for Note N7000 device press and keep holding the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneous until an Android robot icon with a triangle will be displayed, the press Volume Up button to confirm the entering into Download Mode.
  7. Now, run the Odin3 v3.07.exe as an Administrator.
  8. Connect the Galaxy Note N7000 device to the PC using the USB cord.
  9. Now, when the phone is successfully connected the ODIN will turn the ID:COM box yellow with the corresponding COM port number.
  10. Using Odin app select the following extracted files from the N7000XXLTA folder as below:
    • a)      Select the PDA checkbox, browse and click the file named ‘.tar’ or ‘.md5’.
    • b)      Select the Phone checkbox, browse and select the file named ‘modem’ 
    • c)       Select the CSC checkbox, browse and choose the file named ‘CSC’ 
    • d)      Select the PIT checkbox, browse and click the .pit file.
    • Note: ignore the steps b, c and d if the files are missing in extracted folder.
  11. Important: Make sure that in ODIN app the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time option are enabled, if not select the checkboxes. But the Repartition checkbox must be selected, only if a .pit file was selected in the previous step in ODIN app.
  12. Verify once again all the steps to be correctly done.
  13. Click the Start button from ODIN to begin the installation process.
  14. Once the flashing process is done, the Note7000 device will reboot automatically, and into ODIN app’s interface a PASS message with green background will be displayed in the left-most box of ODIN
  15. Disconnect the device from the PC by removing the USB cable.

Congratulation, the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 device is now successfully flashed with the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXLTA firmware version.

Troubleshooting:

If the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 device is stuck at the first boot animation or when the Samsung Logo appears, then you have to:

Boot the device into recovery mode by pressing and keeping holding the Volume UpHome and Power buttons simultaneous.

From the recovery mode preform Wipe data/Factory Reset and then Wipe Cache Partition.

Return on the main Recovery Mode menu and select Reboot System Now option.

 

 

Note: for navigating between options into Recovery Mode menu Use Volume keys and power button to select an option.

Note: When a wipe task is performed all the data on smartphone’s internal memory will be erased, but the data on SD card will be safe.
