Update Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 to Android 4.1.2 XXCMD2 Jelly Bean OTA update

If you are an owner for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet device, you need to know a new Jelly Bean firmware update has been released and you will learn how to manually flash the update.

This latest firmware comes with the new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean features and custom possibility. This update is named XXCMD2 Jelly Bean based on the Android 4.1.2 platform.

The step by step tutorial is composed of two sections. In the first one we will present you the pre-requisites:

  • Download and install the proper Samsung Note 10.1 USB drivers on your PC that you’ll use for install this firmware.
  • Uninstall or deactivate all the security programs that are running in both PC and Android devices, such as Samsung KIES, antivirus, firewall. These programs can interfere with the flashing process and also can interrupt the installation.
  • Now, enable the USB Debugging option, from the Developer Options menu. This option assures the connections between the PC and the Android tablet.
  • Verify the tablet’s battery if you  have enough power left level there, make sure that there is more than 80% power level.

How to Install Android 4.1.2 XXCMD2 Jelly Bean OTA update for Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000:

  1. First, download the Android 4.1.2 XXCMD2 Jelly Bean (N8000XXCMD2 zip file) from HERE, and save the same on your PC.
  2. Second, extract the downloaded zip file. After you have extracted its content you’ll obtain the ‘N8000XXCMD2_N8000MOTCME1_MOT.tar.md5‘. file and save it in your PC. Don’t perform any other archive extraction.
  3. Now, download ODIN3 v3.07 and save it in your PC, after that extract the same in one single folder in your PC on the desktop folder.
  4. Next, power off your Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 tablet completely.
  5. Now, Boot it into Download Mode. (Press and keep holding the Volume Down and Power buttons together, and when in your tablet’s display will appear an Android logo, release the buttons and now press the Volume UP button for entering into Download Mode menu.
  6. Open the folder where you’ve extracted the ODIN application and launch the ODIN 3.07.exe file on your PC such as Administrator.
  7. Connect the Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 tablet to PC, for doing that use its original USB cord.
  8. On the Odin interface you make sure that the ‘added!!’ message is displayed. In case Odin application doesn’t display the ‘added!!’ message, disconnect your device from the PC and reconnect the same in a different USB port and reinstall the USB drivers once again.
  9. Click the ‘PDA’ option from ODIN application.
  10. Browse and load the N8000XXCMD2_N8000MOTCME1_MOT.tar.md5 file
  11. In Odin app make sure that the Re-Partition option is not enabled.(in case this option is enabled, disable it, as otherwise your device can be very hard damage)
  12.  Don’t make any other changes, let the default ODIN settings.
  13. Press the START button to start the flashing of official Android 4.1.2 XXCMD2 Jelly Bean OTA firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 tablet.
  14. When the ODIN app will complete the installation, the Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 will get an automatically reboot
  15. Disconnect your device from your PC.
  16. Now, join your  Google account details and test the new firmware directly on your tablet.

Troubleshooting:

  • If ODIN app didn’t successfully complete the installation you have to repeat the above tutorial once again
  • If ODIN app says that the installation process is done, but your tablet refuse to past the Samsung logo on the reboot process then you have to do:
  1. Force to power off your device.
  2. Boot the Android tablet into Recovery Mode.
  3. From the recovery Mode select and apply a ‘factory reset’, that action will force your device to reboot in normal mode.
