We are going to teach you now how to update the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 model with the latest official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean N8000UBCMA4 firmware. This new firmware has been rolled out by OTA in Venezuela first.  The Android 4.1.2 UBCMA4 Firmware has PDA: N8000UBCMA4, CSC: N8000TFGCMD1 was built on April, 2013.

 

Today, we will present you a step by step manual method about how to Update the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Official UBCMA4 Firmware for all the users who have not received this update by OTA.

If you want to install this latest update manually; you need to know this guide doesn’t require a CMW or TWRP custom recovery image tool installed on your device or a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 model no N8000 device. Rather, we will use the ODIN app, which is a flashing tool developed by Samsung.

If you want to root your device, you need to follow a suitable root guide available for this update running on Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000 model.

Pre-requisites:

  • Take a full back up all your personal data and applications which are stored in device’s internal memory.
  • In order to get a full backup, you can save your SMScall logs history, EFS folder,sync your contacts with your Gmail account, APN and MMS settings.
  • In case you have installed a CWM or TWRP custom recovery image, take a full Nandroid backup for your actual ROM running in your device.

  • This guide works only with Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 model number N8000. So do not try to apply the same in any other device.
  • Check the power left level in the tablet’s battery, it should be more than 70% power left level. This power level is necessary to successfully install the new firmware on your device without any power off. An unexpected power off in the middle of the flashing process can brick or damage the device.
  • Enable USB debugging mode.  Install the suitable Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 USB drivers in your computer.
  • A windows PC will be used for the installation process; also the USB cable and the Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 are necessary.
  • Apply this tutorial only for carrier unlocked and boot-loader unlocked Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 device.
  • Don’t try to use this update for a locked device in a specific phone network.
  • After installation of this latest official update you’ll lose the root right if you have it, the CWM or TWRP Recovery or any other custom recovery image, and also you’ll lose the custom ROM in case you have one installed on your device.
  • The warranty for your Android device won’t be void, and if you have lost the warranty in the past installing a custom ROM, or if you have rooted, or installed a custom recovery image on the device, the warranty will be restored.

How to update the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 with Official UBCMA4 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware

  1.  Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean UBCMA4 for Galaxy Note 10.1 model number N8000 pack file from here.
  2. Download and install the Odin 3.07 app on your Windows PC.
  3. Extract the downloaded firmware archive file at a folder in your desktop. Make sure there you get a .tar.md5 file and other extra file (It is possible that the extra files to don’t be there, these are optional)
  4. Open Odin app as an Administrator.
  5. Now, power off your Note 10.1 tablet.
  6. Boot the Note 10.1 tablet into Download Mode. To enter in the download mode for Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000, you need to press and keep holding the next combination of buttons: Volume Down and Power buttons together, until an Android robot with a construction element is displayed and in this moment, press Volume UP button and the Download Mode will be displayed.
  7. Now, while the Note 10.1 device is into Download mode, connect the device to the PC using its USB cable.
  8. ODIN app will display the “Added” message, and the COM port with a number will be colored in Yellow. That means your device is successfully connected to the PC. In other case,  you need to use another USB port and reinstall the proper USB drivers again and repeat the procedure from the beginning.
  9. If you’ll see the “Added” message from the ODIN and the Yellow color on the COM area that means you can move to the next step because your device was successfully added and now is communicating with the ODIN app.
  10. Now, select the firmware files to be loaded in ODIN app:
    • Click the PDA Button, browse and load the .tar.md5 file (with ‘code’ word in its name) this file is required.
    • Click the Phone Button, browse and load the file that contain *modem* word in its name (load it only if this file is in the extracted firmware folder)
    • Click the CSC Button, browse and load the file with *csc* in its name (load it only if this file is in the extracted firmware folder).
    • Click the PIT Button, browse and load the .pit file. (add this file only if it exists in the extracted firmware folder).
  11. Important: Go to ODIN and make sure that in the ODIN interface the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also if, you use a .pit file in ODIN, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected.
  12. Now, press the START button from ODIN to start the installation of the new firmware.
  13. Wait a couple of minutes, and do not make any change or touch something.
  14. When the flashing process is done, your Note 10.1 device will be automatically rebooted, and in the ODIN interface, you’ll see a “PASS” message and a green colored background.
  15. Now, you can disconnect your device from the PC by removing the USB cord.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 device gets stuck at its boot animation or when appear the Samsung Logo you need to do:
  • Force a restart for your device.
  • Boot it into Recovery Mode (press and keep holding the Volume UP+ Power buttons simultaneously).
  • From the Recovery Mode select “Wipe data/Factory Reset” and after that “Wipe Cache Partition”. (Important: when you perform a wiping function all your data stored in device’s internal memory will be erased.
  • Now come back into the main Recovery Mode menu and from there select reboot system now function.
