After the Samsung Galaxy S3 device saw an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat on AT&T’s network, now is the time for Verizon to follow with Android 4.4.2 update for its Galaxy S3 devices, while also pushing an update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini devices as well.
The aim of both updates is the introduction of Android version 4.4.2 KitKat that includes many fixes and improvements.
However, let’s see together what will KitKat bring for each one.
The Verizon Galaxy S3 device will receive together with the new update version JSS15J.I535VRUCNC1 better Bluetooth connectivity with Motospeak, fixed
Backup Assistant+ Contacts sync, improved Dialer App connectivity, Wi-Fi stability and connectivity, and improved data connectivity.
The Android 4.4.2 KitKAt update also adds support for Samsung KNOX 2.0, Emergency Alerts, includes ISIS Wallet and Verizon Remote Diagnostic v 2.42.167.
Plus the new update will bring some changes such as Photos replaces Google+ Photos, and Play Newsstand replaces Play Magazine, and Backup Assistant+ Media is now Cloud, Samsung Music 4×1, S Suggest and S Bookmark 1×1 widgets were removed, and Music Hub has been eliminated from Samsung Hub, and Google+ User Locations 4×2 widget has been added.
Another interesting device Galaxy S4 Mini, which apparently seemed to be abandoned by Samsung, but apparently it is not, started to receive the Android 4.4.2 update version KOT49H.I435VRUBND5 on Verizon network.
With the new update more features will be available now such as Google Printing framework, Google+ Photos is now Photos, Play Magazine is renamed to Play Newsstand also, Google Hangouts with SMS (preloaded).
Verizon Cloud and Emergency Alerts apps will come as well with the Android 4.4.2 update along with the following enhancements: KNOX 2.0 for Enterprise Support, enhanced security, and Permission added to read/write to ‘My Places’ location setting.
The Galaxy S4 Mini will also receive some improvements such as Wi-Fi network stability, and Auto network switch notifications are now turned off by default, now Backup Assistant Plus syncs properly, and Google Voice Search now operates without force close issues.
This being said we should remind you that these updates will be delivered in phases, meaning that not all Verizon Galaxy S3 or Galaxy S4 Mini users will receive the updates in the same time.
Once your device will become suitable to receive an update you should be prompt by your device through an automatic system message, all you need to do is tap on it and follow the instructions appeared on the screen.
The users that have already installed the upgrade for Verizon Galaxy S3 or Galaxy S4 device let us know your opinion on it in the comments section.
