Owners of Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z devices are complaining about severe battery drain, after upgrading to KitKat build number 10.5.A.0.230.
The Japanese manufacturer, Sony, publicly recognized the battery problems detected in the Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z and finally seems that the owners of these terminals will soon receive a new update that should fix this bug completely.
So, although at first Sony stated that the problems of excessive battery consumption was due to the implementation of Google Play Services, the truth is that a certification has revealed to us that the company is working on an operating system update designed to these smartphones.

The excessive battery consumption appeared after Sony officially published the update of the Android operating system to the latest version the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Many users of the mentioned devices found that after updating to Android 4.4.2 KitKat their mobile began to suffer much higher consumption of battery that have not been experienced before. Sony at first seems to have explained that the blame for this problem is the implementation of the latest version of Google Play Services (4.4.52) and indicated that in the coming days the owners of these phones should receive an update that, hopefully, definitively fix this bug.

According to xperiablog, a new firmware received certification from PTCRB, and Sony will soon push out a new firmware build 10.5.A.0.233 to the Xperia Z series devices including the Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z, which will mostly add bug fixes, and we hope a more stable KitKat experience.

As always, the new update will be available first in the contract free acquired devices. Most of the time in these cases your device will prompt you with a notification that an update is available for download, but if you want to be the first to install and test this new update you can manually check for it by going under Settings -> About phone -> Software updates -> System updates.
From here, the device itself will indicate the steps to download and then install the update. It is highly recommended that you perform this process having a 70% battery charged and a stable WiFi connection in order to avoid data traffic.

Look forward to the release of the update, which it should begin to be available within a few days. Hopefully this patch will ultimately solve the battery problem that users of the Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z are experiencing.
