Sony, the Japanese company, started to distribute OTA a new firmware update designed for both Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact devices. In the case of Sony Xperia Z1, the update is the build number 14.3.A.0.761 and occupies an area of 1.9 megabytes. For the compact version of the Z1 smartphone, the update also answers the same name and occupies the same space as the file for the Xperia Z1.
Since this new 14.3.A.0.761 firmware only brings a slight modification in the last two figures from the previous name of the Sony Xperia Z1 operating system, the 14.3.A.0.757 firmware, it seems that we have a small update designed to correct some errors internally. Of course, in the case of Sony Xperia Z1 Compact updating is more relevant, as the holders of this device in the last several weeks have suffered minor bugs that arose from one of the latest operating system updates.
The main errors that users report are summarized in sound problems, overheating problems, failures in the interface to generate a lock on the screen and battery drain issues. Hopefully with this update all these problems were solved.
The new firmware build number 14.3.A.0.761 had seen a very limited rollout to carriers in France and China, but as you know the OTA updates require some time until they begin to be available in all markets. Therefore, it is best to wait to our device notifies us that an update is available for download. Go to Settings->Navigate to the option About device and click on it ->Once inside, click on the option Software updates > then tap on System updates. In this screen, we just need to follow the instructions we are given on the screen to download and install any updates that are available.
If you choose this option is recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection in order to avoid data traffic.
The other option that you have is to download and install any update on the Sony Xperia device is to use the PC Companion. It is an official tool from Sony (available at this link ) that allows us to update our mobile via computer. For that, we need to connect the device to the computer using the USB cable, and the program automatically will indicate if an update is available for download. As usual this is the fastest method to download updates in all regions.
