Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update Spotted For Verizon

Samsung Galaxy S5

Verizon has started the rollout of the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy S5, according to a thread on the XDA Developers forum with many Galaxy S5 owners reporting the Android 4.4.4 update coming in. So if you use the Galaxy S5 smartphone from the Verizon carrier you should keep an eye on your smartphone’s notification in order to update it to the latest Android version.

It seems that the update file is 346 MB in size and although Verizon did not provide a changelog for the update it should add security improvements and bugs fixes as well as several user interface enhancements.

Several users reported that they have noticed that the Fingerprint Scanner animation and the Visual Voicemail have received improvements, and the Bluetooth media failure has been fixed.

Other changes include the Smart Remote that features a new design, the Lockscreen Landscape is now supported on lockscreen and more other small tweaks to the UI.

As usual, the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Verizon Galaxy S5 is pushed out in stages meaning that not all Galaxy S5 users will get the latest firmware files in the same time, but you should get them soon. Note that the firmware version is KTU84P.G900VVRU1ANHA and is intended only for users running a stock ROM.

Remember to check if your device’s battery is charged before starting the download and also make sure you use a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to avoid data traffic.

If you already updated your Verizon Galaxy S5 to the Android 4.4.4 update feel free to tell us if you noticed any other changes.
