Google Maps v 8.1.1 adds support for Android Wear

Google MAps

Google recently introduced Android Wear the operating system for smart watches and as expected its users will benefit from a special version of Google Maps.

Both Samsung and LG introduced their smart watches running Android Wear at the Google I/O the developers conference, and Motorola to launch a similar device in the near future. To ensure that those who purchase a smart watch will have all the necessary tools no longer to access their phone so often, Google has released an update for Google Maps.

The version 8.1.1 of Google Maps is now available in Play Store and comes with some bug fixes as well as compatibility with devices running Android Wear.

Those who have bought (or received as a gift at the conference) a Samsung Gear Live or LG G Watch just need to install the new Google Maps application, after that, it will automatically update each time an update is available.

Since the Android Wear SDK is available, and the watches are available for order or pre-order, Google Maps is one of many of app updates that we will see in the next weeks and months.
Samsung Gear Live and LG G Watch can be ordered in Google Play Store at a price of $229 and $199 respectively.
