Field Trip is not a very popular application, but this is about to change because of its integration in Google Now.
What Field Trip does? If you are near a point of interest, it warns you with a card and gives you details about it, helping you to discover new and interesting things that you did not know before. Among the points of interest, you can find places and historical events, lifestyle, food, drinks and entertainment, cinema, architecture, art, museums and even obscure points of interest, with quite complex description.
The application’s manner of operation is unique, using a lot of social services and travel.
Field Trip is developed by people from Niantic Labs a company acquired by Google few year ago, the one that gave birth to the famous game Ingress.
The application in question is going to be integrated into Google Now, and soon you will see a tab in Google Now that will show you information about your points of interest.
It is not known now if the card will be displayed only when you are away from home or always, these details we are going to find out probably in the coming days.
