HTC One M8 Now Receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop Update

HTC One M8, one of the most performant Android-based smartphone from the Taiwanese mobile phone marker HTC Company, has started to receive the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA and HTC Sense 6 update.

The new platform update has been long promised to arrive on the HTC One M8 handset in the not-too-distant future. Starting this week, the new update is pushed out for the Unlocked and Developer Editions of the HTC One M8 devices. The Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware update has been rolled out worldwide and now you should begin verify your device’s notifications panel or the Software Updates menu to see if there is any new notification.

Although dubbed Android 5.0 Lollipop, the update represents one of the biggest update that is available for HTC One M8 smartphones. It also boasts the features and enhancements such as Material Design UI, improved battery saving mode, Android Smart Lock, Recents menu, Priority Mode for intelligent notifications, Android Smart Lock, Recent menu, Guest User, Quick Settings extra toggles, Device Sharing capabilities and more.

As mentioned above, the update is also being delivered only for the stock unlocked and developer editions of the International HTC One M8 device. That’s meaning the firmware won’t be released for your smartphone in case you’ve installed a custom ROM or customized it in any way.

The new operating system is being delivered to the HTC One M8 devices over the air as software version 4.16.1540.8, and arrives on device as a large, 584 MB file. Ensure that you will use a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to download and install the new update to avoid unwanted data charges.

Users of the HTC One M8 devices should receive an automatically notification as soon as the new firmware is made available for their devices. However, you can also manually check on the availability of the new Android 5.0 Lollipop by going to the ‘Software Updates’ menu under Settings menu and verify if there are any new firmware files available for download and install.
Unfortunately, the US editions of the HTC One M8 from Verizon, AT &T or any other major US carrier are still waiting more than a month for the new Lollipop update to be released.

According to Mo Versi tweet message, the new update has been released today, but as usual the roll out is done in stages.

Have you captured the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update yet? What other changes did you notice?
