A new refreshed Paranoid Android Custom ROM is available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 device which is known as the Paranoid Android 3 Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware. Read this article as we have brought to you a guide to know how to update the Samsung Galaxy S3 model number I9300, the International variant device with this new custom ROM, which brings new features in the UI and a new set of themes customizations.
This new version of custom ROM is based on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 firmware and brings new features for the user interface and applications. The Paranoid Android 3 custom ROM is one of the most stable custom ROMs available for S3 device. It comes with a great platform that permits to optimize your preferences in graphics section.
The Paranoid Android custom ROM is based on the AOSPA 3+ project. This custom ROM is developed by the Paranoid Team. This latest version of Paranoid Android 3.10 integrated two platforms in one single custom ROM, and the first in Android Jelly Bean AOSP and the second one is CyanogenMod builds.
The main features that you’ll discover after installing this custom ROM are: The new Mali drivers from CM, updated QuickSettings feature, the latest version of SuperUser app, Battery Circle option, PIE Controls, PIE toggle icons and other useful features, functions and options to have more control on your device.
Pre-requisites and Guidelines:
- This new custom ROM has many good things, but also comes with some errors and bugs, Camera app crashes on the first use and for using the camera again you should restart this app. FM Radio is not supported, but like an alternative, you can install and use the Spirit FM Radio application, no exFAT support, TV out isn’t supported, and the Home button will display the Home display and doesn’t matter if an application runs when the screen is off.
- These instructions and tutorial don’t work with the Samsung Galaxy S3 US version, so do not use this guide to update them.
- Don’t skip any step from this guide and their correct order.
- Create a Nandroid back-up for your current ROM before updating your S3 with the latest Paranoid Android JB 4.2.2 custom ROM version 3.10. This back-up represent the restore point, in case something doesn’t work well, or you don’t like this new update.
- Create a full back-up, for your data stored in the device’ internal memory. For that you don’t have to use the KIES or ROM Manager, you can save the data using specifc applications like SMS Back-up and Restore app: for saving the SMS, Call logs and Restore :for saving the Call Logs, you can synchronize the Contacts to your Gmail account, for saving the APN settings you can use the APN Settings Back-up and Restore, for saving your installed applications from Google play, you can use the AppBack for Android app.
- Verify if the device’ battery has enough power left in it. The battery must be more than 60% charged otherwise it may face a forced shutdown during the flashing process.

- If your S3 I9300 device already runs on a previous version of Paranoid Android JB custom ROM, you don’t need to make a “factory reset”. The step factory reset that I included in the next tutorial. In case you don’t make a factory reset, but your device doesn’t boot into the normal mode after you updated your S3 with the latest Paranoid Android JB custom ROM 3.10, you have to repeat the present guide starting from the factory reset step.
How to update the Paranoid Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean custom ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 –
- First of all, you have to download the Paranoid Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean AOSPA 3+ custom ROM file from HERE. After the download completes, save this file on your computer and don’t extract its content. Also, the updating file is available on the next address from here.
- Then, you have to download the Gapps from HERE, save the Gapps for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROMs without to unzip its content.
- Download the NFC fixed pack from here. Flash the EFC zips after you install Gapps only if you have problems with NFC functions,
- Now, connect the S3 device to your PC using the USB cable.
- Move the downloaded files on your device’ internal SDcard memory. (Don’t extract any of these files, just copy and paste from the PC to internal SDcard memory.
- Disconnect the device from computer after the files are successfully copied.
- Power off the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300.
- Now, boot your S3 smartphone into the CWM Recovery mode. To do that you need to press simultaneously the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.
- Create a Nandroid Back-up for your actual ROM, for doing that select the ‘back-up and restore’ option from the CWM Recovery mode
- Now from the CWM Recovery mode, select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option and confirm to do this. NOTE: If you have already run on your S3 device, a previous Paranoid Android JB custom ROM, and you can’t perform a ‘wipe data/ factory reset’, in that case you can skip this step.
- Now, from CWM Recovery mode select the ‘install zip from SDcard’ and select the ‘choose zip from SDcard’ option and after that find the PA I9300 ROM zip file and confirm you want to install it
- From the CWM Recovery mode select once again ‘choose zip from SDcard’ and search and flash the Gapps zip file and flash it. Note: If you receive any error from Gapps, you can flash the NFC file downloaded in the step 3.
- Now reboot your device from the main Recovery menu. To do that select ‘reboot system now’ when all files have been successfully installed on your S3 device.
- Now, wait until the S3 device will boot in the normal mode.
