AT&T has released a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active smartphone. The update arrives over-the-air, and it should reach all Galaxy S5 Active devices from AT&T carrier soon.

As you know all the new OTA updates are launched in stages, so you might not get the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware today. However, if your device is running on stock Android firmware, once it is ready to receive the new update you should get an automatic system update message in the notification bar, and all you need to do is tap on the notification, select download and when the download completes, tap continue and your device will restart.

Additionally, you can check for available updates under Settings-> About device -> Software update -> Check for updates.

Because this update is intended only for devices running on stock Android firmware, if you run a custom ROM, the new Android 4.4.2 update will not be available for your device.

The new firmware version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for AT&T Galaxy S5 Active is build number KOT49H.G870AUCU1ANG3 and, according to Samsung it brings the following improvements and fixes to: visual voice mail, security updates and patches, application installation, accidental emergency dial on the lock screen, several lower layer modem crashes and sluggishness, e-mail UX and re-activation lock.

Although, Samsung is not saying how big the KOT49H.G870AUCU1ANG3 build is in size, the support page recommends you to use a WiFi connection network before starting the download and also to charge your device’s battery completely in order to avoid unwanted interruptions during the download and install process.

Probably this is the last 4.4.2 firmware update that will be released for the Galaxy S5 Active, as Samsung and AT&T are intending on pushing out the Android 4.4.4 in the coming months.
