From a post on Skype’s blog, we find out some of the innovations that the Skype for Android brings in the newest version. One of the novelties of the application is the ability to connect our Skype account with the contacts from the address book and other Microsoft services like Outlook or Windows 8.
After few steps to enable this combination we will automatically see in the application those contacts that also have Skype account and will dynamically continue to match the new contacts that we add in our address book.
Of course, after the update, you will be informed by Skype application to record your phone number. You must also give permission for this tool to check your entire address book. This way, you can see if other users have also registered their phone number making them also appear as contacts in Skype.
An extra point is that the feature can be disabled from the settings section in case when you do not want it to be active and prevent new contacts appear automatically in the Skype application. Microsoft team says that our phone number will not be displayed publicly, and we can prevent it from appearing in searches.
The new features will be seen with the update to Skype 5.0 for Android that you can download from Google Play Store.
