Sony Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update Now Rolling Out

Owners of Xperia E1, the D2004, D2005 models and Xperia E1 Dual, the D2104, D2105, D2114 models started to receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update on their handsets.

For the single SIM version of Xperia E1, the new-firmware build is number 20.1.A.0.47, for the dual-SIM version (the D2104, D2105 models) the new-firmware build is number 20.1.B.0.64, and for the D2114 model the build is 20.1.B.0.65.

The update is available via OTA or can also be downloaded manually via PC companion suite from computer to the smartphone.

The update includes the usual KitKat features as well as the KitKat Xperia specific features. Once you will upgrade your handset you will experience transparent nav bar, improved email apps, tweaked Status Bar and Quick Settings, Sony PlayStation 4 launch animation, new boot animation/themes, and enhanced camera and stability of the software, and also app to SD card functionality first introduced by Sony to Xperia T2 Ultra devices.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update also adds to Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual devices the Simple Home launcher and many of the Sony native apps to the latest build version including Xperia Home to version 6.3.A.0.7 and the WALKMAN app to version 8.4.A.1.5.

The rollout of the Android 4.4.2 is carried out in stages, so it might take some time until all the regions will get an update.

We recommend you to use a stable Wi-Fi connection and also to fully charge your device’s battery in order to download and install the new firmware.

To manually check for the Android 4.4.2 update on your Xperia E1 smartphone go to Settings -> About phone -> Software updates -> System updates.
