Finally, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device has received the new Android 4.4.2 I9192XXUCNG2 KitKat firmware. Those who have not got the update can now learn how to install the same manually.

We will show you an easy method to install the Android 4.4.2 firmware so that that you get various features such as  white status bar icons, better battery life, better Samsung S applications, lock screen enhancements, full screen immersive mode, and more.

This new firmware update is only for Russian devices, but you can enjoy this experience of the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware for any Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Dual-SIM device.

Prerequisites:

  • This is only for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini DUOS device having model number GT-I9192.
  • Verify your device’s model by visiting the next path Settings> About Phone.
  • If your phone is not of  GT-I9192 version, you shouldn’t use this process.
  • Now, download and install the Samsung Galaxy USB Driver on your PC.
  • From the Developer Options menu, enable the USB Debugging mode.
  • Now, disable any protection tools such as antivirus, Samsung KIES application, Firewalls, or any other security tools from your PC from which the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device is connected.
  • In case the device is rooted, installation of the new update will revoke the root access.
  • If the device has installed any custom Recovery Image, the flashing of the new firmware  will be replaced by a stock one.
  • If a custom ROM flashed on your Samsung device, you should be aware that  once the device is flashed with the new official OS,  the system partition will be removed and a “Factory reset” is required. We will explain this process at the end of the tutorial.
  • For saving your data, you should use the Helium application for Android.
  • Now, sync your Contacts with your Gmail Account.
  • Make sure that your device is at least 65-70 percent charged. It will avoid any kind of forced stop of the process.

How to install the Android 4.4.2 I9192XXUCNG2 update on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device:

  1. First, download the Android 4.4.2 I9192XXUCNG2 update on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos zip file from here. You need an account at SamMobile to download the file.
  2. Now, after the download is over, extract the I9192XXUCNG2 tar.md5 file from the download zip file.
  3. Do not extract any other file.
  4.  Next, you need download ODIN v3.09 flashing software and save it in your PC.
  5. Turn off the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device.
  6. Turn on the device into Download Mode.
  7. Now, launch the ODIN3 v3.09 exe file on your PC.
  8. Now, connect the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device to your computer by using a suitable USB cable.
  9. Odin application will detect your device, you can move to the next step.
  10. If the Samsung Galaxy device isn’t recognized by your computer, you need to reinstall the USB drivers once again.
  11. From ODIN application click on the “AP” Option.
  12. Now, browse your PC for the extracted I9192XXUCNG2 tar.md5 file, load it in ODIN application.
  13. Make sure that the “Re-Partition” option is disabled.  Don’t  make any other ODIN default setting.
  14. Now, press the “Start” button when you’re ready to launch the new firmware update.
  15.  The process takes some time, so do not touch any other buttons till all files are completely flashed.
  16. Once the ODIN completes the flashing process, the device will automatically reboot.
  17. Now, wait until the ODIN says “PASS” message, you can remove the USB cable from the PC.
  18. The first boot process takes around 10 minutes and you should wait until the Android 4.4.2 KitKat home screen is displayed.
  19. Now you are ready to install the new Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device.

 Troubleshooting:

If the ODIN application shows the “Failed” message after the flashing process, you need to repeat this step.

  1.  If the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos device enters into boot loop stage or gets stuck during or after the flashing installation process, you need to apply the  factory reset process.
  2. For that, boot the device into Recovery Mode
  3. Next, select the ‘Wipe data/ Factory reset’ from the recovery menu, and then confirm the installation process.
  4. Now, reboot the device into normal mode once the process is over.
