Verizon Rolls Out A New KitKat Update for Droid Razr M, Droid Razr HD and Droid Razr Maxx HD

Motorola Droid Razr M

An OTA update is being pushed to users of the Droid RAZR M, Droid RAZR HD and the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, which carries the build number 182.46.15.

The new update will not change the version of the software so your device will continue to run under Android 4.4.2. The update is minor, with only two addition being listed on Verizon’s support page, i.e., Google security improvements and stability and improvements to the Messaging app.

As all OTA updates, the new Android 4.4.2 OTA update for Droid RAZR M, RAZR HD and RAZR Maxx HD is being rolled out in phases so that not all users of these devices will be able to download and install it at once.

However, once your Droid device becomes ready to receive the new software update you should see a system message in the notifications bar. All you need to do is tap on that notification, and then follow the on-screen guidance.

Sometimes the system fails to prompt you so you might want to check manually under Settings -> About phone -> Software updates -> Check now and see if there’s an available update for your device.

Note that if you are running a rooted device you might lose your privileges after updating it to the new software.
