Motorola Moto X devices from AT&T started to receive the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat update via OTA, so if you own an AT&T Moto X smartphone keep an eye on the notification panel because once your device is ready to receive a new update you will be prompted by the system to download and install it.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update reach Moto X devices in stages by the end of next week, so do not worry if the notification message has not shown up yet.

As you probably know, Android L is the next version expected to be launched by Google next month, and Motorola will ensure that all carriers update their devices to the latest KitKat software build until then.

The new Android 4.4.4 firmware update is listed with number 212.44.26 and adds security fixes, a redesigned dialer, the ability to pause video recording with a button on the viewfinder and several bug fixes, as well as a better battery life.

When the automatic Android 4.4.4 OTA update notification arrives on your Moto X from AT&T you just need to select the download and then Install Now, and your Moto X will take care of the rest of the process. After the Android 4.4.4 software is installed, your Moto X will re-start automatically and will be updated with 212.44.26.

For a successful installation, make sure your device’s battery is charged and also that you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
In the case that the system notification failed to show up perform a manual check under Settings->About phone->
System updates-> if Android 4.4.4 is available, select Download->After the download is completed select Install.
