HTC has just presented at IFA Berlin its first smartphone with 64 bits architecture, the Desire 820. HTC Desire 820 is a mid-range device which was talked about before being made official, but now let’s see which are the real specs.

As HTC states, the Desire 816 was a popular device in the mid-range market, so now, after six months after its release, the HTC Desire 820 is intended to replace the Desire 816 as company’s new flagship of the Desire range, and also as one of the first Android smartphones with a 64-bit ARMv8 SoC, and the first to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

HTC Desire 820 comes 5,5″ HD display with a resolution of 720p, powered as mentioned by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with 8 Cortex A53 nuclei in two clusters, one of 4 nuclei running at 1.5GHz, optimized for high performance and the other cluster runs at 1.0GHz and it is optimized for low power. The memory RAM of Desire 820 is 2GB while the internal memory is 16 GB expandable via microSD cards.

The device is equipped with a 13 MP with f/2.2 lens rear camera and in front with an 8MP sensor. The handset is powered by a battery of 2600 mAh and comes with Android 4.4 KitKat on board, but the company ensures its customers that it will be updated soon to Android L in order to exploit the full potential of the processor.

HTC Desire 820 will be available towards the end of September in two different variants, a range of glossy colors and a range of opaque colors. The only aspect that is not known yet is the price, but as always it will depend on the market and carrier, in certain markets it will be available with dual Nano-SIM slots.
