Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos device received the new Android 4.4.2 KK XXUBNG4 official update in India.

This step by step guide is especially for all users who want to update it manually. This can be flashed on Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS. Here are the following prerequisites for the manual process:

  • This guide is for Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 model number SM-GT7102 device
  • Check the model number, go to  Settings>About Phone.
  • Don’t use this for any other phone or model number.
  • Now, download and install a suitable Samsung USB Driver for your device  save them from here on your PC.
  • Enable the USB Debugging mode from Developer Options menu.
  • Now, disable all antivirus applications, firewalls, KIES application and all such applications as they can interfere with the installation and  interrupt the process.
  • If the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS device is a rooted device, you will lose the root rights after this manual update.
  • If your device has a custom Recovery Image installed, you will have to replace it with a Stock Recovery one.

 How to install the new Android 4.4.2 XXUBNG4 Update on Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS:

  1. First, download the Android 4.4.2 G7102XXUBNG4 firmware update file from here. (Create a SamMobile account to download this file from there).
  2. Now, Extract the downloaded zip file, and get the G7102XXUBNG4 tar.md5 file.
  3. Don’t extract any other and save this downloaded file on your computer.
  4. Download ODIN3 v3.09 application from here, save it on your PC and extract its contents.
  5. Turnoff the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 DOUS .
  6. Now, boot the device in Download Mode,  press and hold the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously, release the buttons simultaneously
  7. Open the ODIN3 V3.09 exe file on your Computer.
  8. Now, use the USB cable cord and connect the device to the PC.
  9. Wait for ODIN to detect the Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS device, move to next step. .
  10. If the device isn’t recognized by ODIN, reinstall the Samsung USB Drivers.
  11. From ODIN main’s UI press AP button.
  12. Now, browse your PC for G7102XXUBNG4 Grand 2 DUOS tar.md5 and load it in the ODIN application.
  13. Now, disable the “Re-Partition” option from ODIN. Do not change other default ODIN Settings.
  14. Next, from ODIN press Start button to start the installation process.
  15. Don’t  press any other button till the installation process is complete.
  16. Restart the phone once the process is over.
  17. Now, disconnect the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 DUOS from the PC by removing the USB cord when the home screen of the Grand 2 DUOS device  lights up and ODIN application shows the PASS message.

Troubleshooting:

  • If the ODIN app  fails to install the update file, you need to repeat the step by step guide.
  • If the ODIN says the installation process is done, but the device is stuck for more than 25 minutes or the device is entering into a boot loop, you need to apply a factory reset from the Recovery Mode menu.
