 How to update Android 4.1.2 I8160XXMF1 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy Ace 2

  1. Download the official Android 4.1.2 I8160XXMF1 Jelly Bean and save it to the PC.
  2. Now, extract the downloaded pack zip file on your desktop PC and get a file with
  3. Extract the downloaded firmware zip file to get a file tar.md5 extension and some other additional files.
  4. Next, download Odin3 v1.85. With Odin,  you’ll flash the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean file.
  5. Now, extract the Odin zip archive and get Odin3 v1.85.exe file and some additional files.
  6. Power off the Samsung Galaxy Ace2 device completely.
  7. Now, boot it into Download Mode. To do that press and keep holding Home + Volume Down and Power buttons in the same time and when a warning message will be displayed press Volume UP button for entering into Download Mode Menu.
  8. Open Odin3 v1.85.exe file, run it as an Administrator from the folder where it has been extracted.
  9. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 device to the PC with the help of  USB cord while the device is booted on Download Mode.
  10. Now, wait Odin detects the Ace 2 smartphone.
  11. When ODIN will display an Added message, that’s mean the device is recognized by ODIN.  Also, on ODIN interface the ID: COM box will turn yellow color together with the COM port number, that thing shows you the connection is successfully done.
  12. Just in case of the Odin app doesn’t show you the ADDED message then you need to change the USB port from PC and to reinstall the USB driver once again.
  13. Now, from the extracted I8160XXMF1 folder select the flashing files for flash them into smartphone such as below:a)From ODIN app click PDA button and browse and select the .tar.md5 file

    b)Click Phone button and browse and then select the file that contains Modem word in its name.

    c) Click the CSC button and browse and then select file that contains CSC word in its name

    d) Click the PIT button and browse and pick up the file with the .pit extension.

  14. Note: In case on the steps b, c and d isn’t any file like in above descriptions, ignore them individually. Important: Make sure in Odin, the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time checkboxes are selected and uncheck the Re-Partition option; select the Re-Partition option only when a .pit file is being used.
  15. Now, when all steps are successfully such as we guide you above, click the START button in ODIN app
  16. The flashing operation should start immediately, and it would take a few minutes to be done.
  17. When the flashing action is completely done, the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone will get a restart automatically.
  18. When the installation is completed  a PASS message together with a green background will be displayed in the very top of Odin interface. This thing will indicate the installation process is successfully done.
  19. Now, disconnect safely the USB cord from the computer.
