The Sony Xperia T, Sony Xperia TX and Sony Xperia V devices launched on the market two years ago will not be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat, as Sony confirmed via its software support web pages, so this devices will remain in the version 4.3 Jelly Bean of Android OS for the rest of their life cycle.
Such confirmation will not make happy the owners of any of these three smartphones, but we are sure that it is a decision based on solid investigations of Sony’s engineers, and also we must appreciate the Japanese manufacturer for being fair about its update plans.
Who still wants to have a newer Android operating system, can enter unofficial custom ROMs on its device, but with the implied risks in such interventions, or to change to a newer Xperia model.
Sony Xperia SP handset is one that still has some remote possibility of updating to Android 4.4 KitKat, but its owners will have to wait and see whether they will get KitKat version as Sony says this is still under investigation.
