YouTube Introduces Fan Funding Option In Australia, Japan, Mexico And The US

YouTube

YouTube is constantly evolving, and its new feature will please the content creators, as it provides a new opportunity to monetize the content, called Fan Funding, the feature is already available in Japan, Australia, Mexico and the U.S.

The independent creators of YouTube videos produced by them, normally receive compensation through ads, but very few make real money off of those ads, and that money is hardly enough sufficient in most cases.

With the new feature, this situation is about to change because those who follow certain channels can help content creators by giving them money as donations through Fan Funding program.

This method of monetize YouTube videos is in addition to money that channels may make from ads that appear before or during videos.

Since some YouTube channels can not earn money from some clips using copyrighted materials, the donations received might lead to better quality videos. Transactions are made through Google Wallet, which suggests that to receive support, the country you live in, need to have access to this service first. Google also receives a small amount of each transaction, usually, for donations the ampunt is set somewhere around 5% of the total.

When you are watching a video produced by someone that accept donation, if you want to donate money to that content creator, you can do this both from the web interface and also from within the YouTube for Android app version 5.7 and higher. Channels that have this feature enabled are marked with an icon or banner in one of the corners of the video with links to the donation page.

Although, Fan Funding is now available in only a few countries, will soon be available in others too.
